Disease characteristics

       Prostate cancer is a type of malignant tumor that occurs in the epithelium of the prostate gland. It is a highly prevalent cancer type of the male urological system. Its incidence rate increases year over year after the age of 55 and peaks at the age between 70 and 80. Patients with familial heredity have an early onset, with 43% of them diagnosed under the age of 55. Common diagnostic methods include digital rectal examination, serum PSA, transrectal prostate ultrasound and pelvic MRI examination.
